Courchesne Larose Receives Recognition for Sustainability Efforts with ECORESPONSIBLE™ Certification



MONTREAL, CANADA - Courchesne Larose, a Canadian distributor, received recognition for its environmental and social business processes. Awarded the ECORESPONSIBLE™ Certification, Level 2. Performance, this milestone marks why the sustainable development at the core of the company's mission is so important.

According to a press release, the ECORESPONSIBLE Certification, Level 2. Performance, issued by ECOCERT CANADA, is awarded following a rigorous process that independently and impartially assessed the compliance of Courchesne Larose’s sustainable business processes.

Recognizing its social and environmental business practices, Courchesne Larose has been awarded the ECORESPONSIBLE™ Certification, Level 2. Performance

The certification itself applies to the company’s two sites in Anjou and Central Market in Montreal.

After receiving this certification, Courchesne Larose imparts that its determination to contribute to the transition toward a low-carbon economy and healthy eating remains a top priority. The distributor became aware of its impact on the life cycle of its activities and has set up an eco-responsibility committee to allocate the necessary resources to achieve its sustainable development objectives, both in terms of employee training and in its supply chain.

Most recently, Courchesne Larose installed new LED lighting in its warehouses, which helps with energy savings. The company has also acquired electric trailers for short-term storage of products. To make sure that the fruits and vegetables coming through its network are as fresh as possible, Courchesne Larose uses a technology in its cold rooms to free the air of ethylene, thereby allowing for improved preservation. The company is always seeking new ways to optimize its operations through food preservation and safety, in addition to promoting local purchasing when a product is available in Quebec.
