Misionero's Nicole Zapata Teases New Line Ahead of Organic Produce Summit

GONZALES, CA - Organic Produce Summit (OPS) is only a few days away, and I for one can’t wait to see what organic producers have in store for us. As I prepare for the Monterey, California, show, I spoke with Misionero’s Nicole Zapata, to learn more about what this grower is showcasing.

Nicole Zapata, Marketing Director, Misionero“We’ll have two new blends under our Earth Green banner, the Elevated Power Greens and Renaissance Spring Mix,” the Marketing Director explained to me. “Elevated Power Greens is a powerful blend of nutrient-dense, shredded mature greens that consumers can use for salads, cooking, smoothies—this new blend was created to be a healthy addition to any meal. Renaissance Spring Mix is a heartier spring mix that contains crunchy, sweet leaf varieties adding volume and texture, giving a fresh take for consumer appeal. Consumers are still eating more meals at home and are ready for more variety and new options to try.”

As consumer interest in healthier products continues to surge, Misionero has the product lines to back up this demand.

At the Organic Produce Summit, Misionero will have two new blends under its Earth Green banner: the Elevated Power Greens and Renaissance Spring Mix

“This consumer interest is fueling strong growth in the organic value-added space. People continue to embrace the food-as-medicine trend and opt for food that provides health benefits. Beyond the new products that will be highlighted at OPS, Misionero will be showing all our organic offerings from value-added vegetables including Brussels sprouts, green beans, sugar snap peas, and butternut squash to our leafy greens and salad offerings,” Nicole added. “Although these products will not be seen at OPS, Misionero will also be introducing our new hydroponic lineup to the market. The hydroponics lineup includes Butter lettuce, Little Gems, and Romaine with more to be announced in the future.”

To increase its value proposition, Misionero remains committed to sustainability and social accountability. The company is certified by the Equitable Food Initiative (EFI) and has recently started partaking in a pilot program with both EFI and Measure to Improve.

This new program will help evaluate both improved worker outcomes and reduced greenhouse gas emissions from implementing new waste reduction efforts, and sustainability is an issue driving purchase decisions. Ninety percent of consumers said it is important that brands support and treat employees well, Nicole noted.

“With EFI, we have built a strong company culture to ensure our employees have the right channels and access points to be part of the conversation and to help us improve our business,” she remarked. “EFI provides an unmatchable social accountability model and we are excited about expanding this program to include the Measure to Improve Produce and Reduce Program.”

Noting the success of past shows, Nicole is excited for what’s to come. Be sure to visit the team at booth #410 to learn all you can about this organic stunner.
