Sun World Partners with New Fruit Licenses in Chile and Peru
PALM DESERT, CA - If one were to ask me what the zeitgeist of the 2010s was, I might be inclined to say table grapes, especially after Sun World International announced it’s closing out 2019 with three new licensees. This week, the company revealed it is partnering with Pronto Exports, Agrícola Interandina, and Sun Fruits as it continues to build out its table grape profile.
“We are pleased to appoint these fine companies to help bolster our presence in the global fruit trade,” said Garth Swinburn, Sun World’s Vice President of Licensing. “We’re confident that providing further access to our seedless grape varieties will allow producers to maximize their revenues while increasing the seedless grape volume in Chile and Peru, and the visibility of our varietal brands.”
In addition to helping Sun World strengthen its own table grape standing, the new partnerships grant Pronto Exports, Agrícola Interandina, and Sun Fruits access to broader domestic and international markets. According to a press release, the three new licensees join more than 70 licensed marketers around the world who sell Sun World fruit varieties, which includes the likes of AUTUMNCRISP®, MIDNIGHT BEAUTY®, SABLE SEEDLESS®, ADORA SEEDLESS®, SCARLOTTA SEEDLESS®, SOPHIA SEEDLESS®, and SUPERIOR SEEDLESS®.
Chile-based Pronto Exports was founded in 1930 as a packer and exporter of table grapes, kiwis, walnuts, and avocados. Owned by the Gioia family, the company’s operations take place on over 1,000 hectares—600 of which focus solely on table grape exports.
Sun Fruits, a grower, processor, and exporter, operates out of the capital city of Peru (Lima) in the valley of Inca—known as one of the richest and most ancient cultivated valleys in the world. The company operates almost 1,000 hectares of grapes, avocados, citrus, and blueberries.
Agrícola Interandina is also based out of Peru, but is located at the heart of the Andes Mountains, which provide ideal weather conditions to produce high-quality fruits. The grower and exporter was founded by three fruit growers and currently exports mandarins, blueberries, grapes, and avocados to customers across five continents.
