Streamlining and minimizing prep in the kitchen, the company has launched its Markon First Crop (MFC) Trimmed Leeks, now available in 5 lb packs.

Versatile with a sweet and subtle flavor, leeks can be used for a variety of menu options and recipes including staples such as salads, soups, and side dishes. According to a release, MFC Trimmed Leeks are a 100 percent usable product with the root and upper leaves already removed. They are also a more sustainable option for operators since there is no trim waste and smaller packaging sizes means less space taken up in a walk-in cooler.

MFC Trimmed Leeks are now available to operators through Markon’s foodservice members including Ben E. Keith Foods, Gordon Food Service, Gordon Food Service Canada, Nicholas & Company, and Shamrock Foods Company.

This new offering, like all Markon produce, is backed by the company’s 5-Star Food Safety® program, based on specifications, information, and third-party audits at five key points: fields, facilities, transportation, distributor warehouses, and operators’ kitchens.
