Procacci Brothers Shares the Details on its Italian Chestnut Program and New Packaging

Procacci Brothers has long been one of the top importers of fresh Italian Chestnuts in the United States. These premium niche items are available during the fall season from mid-October and into the New Year when the climate in Italy is ideal for cultivating flavor. And yes – they are a fruit. While the season for Italian Chestnuts maybe short, the item boasts a low shrink and the ability to boost sales when properly merchandised and promoted at the store level.
In an effort to help convenience and scan-through at the register, the company has differentiated and developed new net bag packaging in addition to Procacci’s bulk and burlap bag shipments.
The new packaging contains nutrition facts while also sharing preparation instructions for some of the best, roasted chestnuts you can enjoy during the cooler months. A QR code also directs consumers to the portion of Procacci’s website which currently features a chestnut recipes section for the adventurous.
Since Italian Chestnuts are a coveted specialty item, they can accent any holiday display and can be cross-merchandised with like-minded produce, or gifts from wine and cheese, to holiday fruit baskets.
As the weather patterns cool down into autumn mode, fresh baked Italian chestnuts are a yearly staple for warmth during the holiday season.
