Summer Citrus from South Africa Concludes Record-Breaking 2022 Season; Suhanra Conradie Shares
CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA - That’s a wrap, folks! Summer Citrus from South Africa (SCSA) has concluded its record-breaking 2022 season, with all fruit being shipped and expected to arrive at ports before the end of October.
“As we continue to serve one of the world’s most demanding markets, our global partners are a crucial part of our program’s success,” said Suhanra Conradie, Chief Executive Officer of SCSA. “While each season seems to bring its own fair share of trials, this year was no different. Despite the added pressure due to shipping routes removing the Philadelphia port, our ‘dream team’ of service providers truly are what make this program possible.”
Through strategic planning and preparation, SCSA saw a 17 percent increase in volume this season compared to 2021, a release explained. The brand shipped record volumes of oranges in addition to large numbers of easy peelers, which have gained popularity amongst consumers.
A large part of the brand’s success is due to the brand’s team of growers, importers, local and global officials, and logistics and marketing teams. To support the sales efforts of SCSA’s growers and importers, the company hosted its seventh annual consumer promotion to educate shoppers about South African fruit in order to increase demand. The promotion reached approximately 20,000 consumers, 22 percent more than the previous term.
“As we conclude our season, we wish the domestic US market a successful winter, and we look forward to continuing to contribute to the market next summer with an even stronger program!” added Conradie.
