Sun Pacific Ramps Up for Fall with Cuties and Mighties at PMA Fresh Summit, Howard Nager Discusses

PASADENA, CA – Sun Pacific is getting ready to satiate seasonal demand for fruit, with the company’s iconic Mighties and Cuties and other on-trend seasonal citrus offerings set to ship out this fall.

“We began shipping our branded California kiwi, Mighties, the first week of October,” Howard Nager, Vice President of Business Development, tells me, noting that Sun Pacific’s kiwifruit represent approximately 50 percent of the California kiwi crop. "Mighties are available in either 1-lb or 2-lb clamshells, and we are finding that retailers have more success promoting the 2-lb clamshell to consumers. The value-added proposition for Mighties is that we are pre-conditioning the fruit so the consumer can taste the ripe, sweet flavor once they bring it home.  It truly is a superfood with more potassium than a banana and more Vitamin C than an orange.  Display shippers are available to promote the fruit using secondary display locations to garner incremental sales."

This past week also saw the beginning of both navel and lemon crop harvest, and with Cuties shipping the first week of November, Howard adds  Sun Pacific is primed to meet customer demand for the fall season’s citrus. 

“As the largest independent Navel grower in the U.S., we have good supply and excellent quality to meet the needs of our retail consumers,” Howard explains. “With high-graphic holiday-themed Cuties and Mighties boxes, available from mid-November through December, produce departments can highlight the popular brand’s suitability for holiday spreads and healthy snacking in a season where fresh produce can be a welcome respite from an onslaught of rich confections.

And with more in the way of consumer marketing campaigns including billboards, radio spots, in-store marketing and a partnership with iHeart Radio generating almost a billion consumers, the future is bright for Sun Pacific. Sun Pacific promises even more piquant produce news at the company’s booth #4659 at the 2017 PMA Fresh Summit.
