UNITED STATES - Although the International Fresh Produce Association’s Global Produce & Floral show is behind us, its impact is still being felt. Companies like Syngenta were making their innovations known in ways that will inspire both suppliers and buyers in the upcoming months.

By sponsoring the show’s Networking Lunch, Syngenta was able to shine a spotlight on its latest launch: IDEAL Melons.

Oscar Cabrera, Technical Sales Representative and Product Development Specialist, Central America & Caribbean, Syngenta Vegetable Seeds“We have been trialing IDEAL Melons for the last three years. The growers and shippers located in Central America are enthusiastic about an additional product in their portfolio to service the United States consumer with a new concept of long-shelf-life cantaloupe melons,” commented Oscar Cabrera, Technical Sales Representative and Product Development Specialist, Central America & Caribbean for Syngenta Vegetable Seeds.

The video, which can be viewed below, highlights program insights, the variety’s differentiating factors and more.

“I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of growers and shippers in Central America,” Oscar continued. “We have an exciting innovation that reduces the risk of harvesting immature fruits, increasing freshness and ripeness before the long journey into the U.S. The Harvest Indicator Trait allows the grower to visually see when they should harvest the melon.”

As we continue to work our way through the winter months in the Northern Hemisphere, I know consumers will be hungry for a delicious melon to lift their taste buds to tropical heights.
