Ahold Delhaize USA Officially Names John Ruane as President of The GIANT Company; JJ Fleeman Comments
SALISBURY, NC - It was recently announced by Ahold Delhaize USA that John Ruane has graduated from interim President to President of The GIANT Company. In this role, he will help support the continued growth of the omnichannel retailer.

Before becoming interim President, Ruane was Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer for The GIANT Company. According to a release, he led the merchandising and marketing teams to develop and implement customer-centric strategies while improving the shopper experience and the company’s overall value proposition.
Ruane began his grocery career at 14 at Foodtown in New Jersey, where he worked through college. Later, he joined Pathmark and held positions of increasing responsibility at retail and merchandising before joining Ahold Delhaize USA companies in 2011. He joined The GIANT Company in 2018.
During his career, Ruane has been an industry and community supporter. He serves as Chair of FMI’s Fresh Food Leadership Committee and on the Board of Directors at Philabundance, one of the largest hunger relief organizations serving the Philadelphia area.
He attended Rutgers College and has completed post-graduate programs at Cornell University and Harvard Business School.
