MONTREAL, QUEBEC - We are over halfway through March. Let that sink in for a moment. Amidst the cries of “omg where has the time gone?!” there is a silver lining—the coming of the CPMA Convention and Trade Show. Yes, the best in the biz will soon gather in Montreal, from April 2-4 of this year, giving attendees the chance to hobnob with like-minded industry colleagues. Standing out among the pack of exhibitors is Chelan Fresh, grower of apples, pears, and, my favorite, cherries. I spoke with Mac Riggan, Director of Marketing, about what conference attendees can expect from the grower, and why CPMA is so important.

Mac Riggan, Director of Marketing, Chelan Fresh“CPMA provides an opportunity to connect with retailers in a dynamic and beneficial setting when we are all together with the same goals and intentions in mind,” Mac tells me. “When you meet a retail partner or potential partner at CPMA, they are there to connect and discover the best of what is in the industry. They're focused. They're interested to see what's new and can visualize or dream what that might look like in their stores. Talking face-to-face with our customers and sharing ideas is what we like to do and the event provides a great time to discuss strategies and opportunities for the coming year.”

Chelan will be showcasing its very best produce offerings, including KORU®, Rockit™, Granny Smith, and Honeycrisp apples; Bosc pears; Orondo Ruby, Rainier, and Sonnet cherries; as well as the company’s recent line of organic apples and pears. Both the company’s Granny Smith and Honeycrisp apples will be available deep into the season. The company’s Bosc pears will also be available all the way into June. The company will also be featuring its coveted Top Seal Cherries.

Canadian produce packaging brings its own unique needs—needs that Chelan is ready to address. The company’s packaging will be bilingual, in both English and French, as seen on the two-pound pouch bags in which the Koru and Rockit apples will be sold. New organic packaging will also be in full display to create a vibrant and attention-grabbing destination at retail.
