MIAMI, FL - For two years running, Continental Fresh has been supporting BLUE Missions Group, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing clean water to communities in Latin America. Through its Water for All label, which consists of the company’s mango line, Continental Fresh made a donation of $32,053.64 to BLUE Missions.

“We find that retailers, customers, and even in some cases, consumers, have really taken to the idea that Continental Fresh has a component of social responsibility alongside our dedication to quality,” Albert Perez, Chief Executive Officer and Grower Relations, shares with me. “The mangos have a PLU sticker that takes shoppers to a website where they can see the work that we’re doing. They’ve commented that they like to buy a piece of fruit that’s also giving back.”

Giving back to the community is an essential part of the Continental Fresh mission and one of Albert’s life-long passions.

“I’ve been working on projects in the Dominican Republic for the last 38 years,” Albert remarks. “I started a non-profit myself called LIFO Missions, which led to one of my young participants starting BLUE Missions. They do 35 projects a year, not only in the Dominican Republic, but in Ecuador, Nicaragua, and Colombia, and they continue to expand.”

Noting that the Water for All label catches the attention of shoppers, Albert expresses how important it is that the purpose of the label is built right into the box.

Social responsibility is something dear to our industry’s heart, and it’s inspiring to see Continental Fresh take up this mantle.
