RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA - A major interstate stretching across the California/Arizona border was hit by flash flooding on Wednesday, disrupting the travel of thousands of vehicles. The eastbound 10 Freeway on the California side of the border was washed out when a monsoonal surge suddenly struck.

According to a report from Fox Weather, a large portion of the road collapsed as a result of the flash flooding. Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and gusty winds all swept across the region as part of the monsoon.

Flash flooding recently hit an interstate on the border between California and Arizona, washing away part of the eastbound 10 Freeway on the California side of the border

The news source relayed that drivers can expect major delays on the 10 Freeway east of Highway 177 near Desert Center. The westbound lanes, however, were reopened late Wednesday night. With trucks constantly traveling back and forth between major agricultural hubs in California and Arizona, we can only assume that this weather event may impact the transportation of fresh produce.
