Giumarra Companies Builds Asparagus Program With New Partnership; Bruce Dowhan and James Paul Comment
LOS ANGELES, CA - Giumarra Companies is kicking off this week with a bang. The fresh supplier has revealed the addition of California asparagus to its year-round asparagus program through a partnership with Greg Paul Produce Sales, a Stockton, California-based grower and shipper, and sole commercial marketer of California-grown asparagus.
“We are pleased to round out our robust asparagus program with exceptional California product during a time when consumers continue to seek quality and value from their food purchases,” said Bruce Dowhan, Senior Vice President of Giumarra Companies. “Greg Paul Produce, a multigenerational family company with a like-minded service philosophy, represented a natural partner for us.”
Starting mid-March through mid-May, this new asparagus will be available from Giumarra, a release noted. Promotable volumes will be accessible for retailers during key spring holidays, including Easter and Mother’s Day as well.
To support buyers and retailers, Giumarra will also be offering customized marketing support to communicate to shoppers the product’s unique flavor and locally grown attributes in applicable regions.

California asparagus is recognized for its premium flavor profile due to a combination of ideal climate and growing conditions, including soil high in organic matter. Because of its taste and quality, California-grown asparagus is highly sought after by chefs.
As it becomes available, the product will be offered in Giumarra’s standard asparagus pack styles and will accompany the supplier’s other asparagus varieties grown in Mexico and Peru.
