Massive 1.1MW Cenergy Solar System Goes Live for Superior Almond Hulling

Cenergy Power has just completed a massive 1.125 megawatt solar photovoltaic system for Superior Almond, a leading huller and sheller of almonds. The solar system, which was built at the company’s state-of-the-art Cantua Creek processing facility, will ensure clean solar power for more than twenty-five years, according to a press release.

Brad Craven, General Manager at Superior Almond Hulling, says he’s pleased with the results, noting that the amount of sunshine has provided the company the opportunity to benefit greatly from the use of solar power. “We were comfortable with Cenergy’s solar power engineering capabilities, including its experience in effectively addressing end-of-line unstable voltage issues and complex interconnection requirements,” said Craven.

Some of these benefits of the solar system include the ability to generate over 1.8 million kWh of solar power per year, offset over 40% of the facility’s electric usage (saving the company $5 million in electricity costs over the next 25 years), and reduce the facility’s carbon footprint by 1,300 metric tons of CO2 annually.

So far among almond, walnut, and pistachio-related businesses in Central Valley, Cenergy has engineered and installed over 15 megawatts of solar systems.
