National Mango Board Responds to FDA Notice

The National Mango Board has released a statement concerning the FDA’s recent notice that urged consumers to not eat Daniella-brand mangos. The FDA’s message sought to assure consumers that the salmonella contaminated mangos were sourced from a single Agricola Daniella packing house in Sinaloa, Mexico.
The National Mango Board’s Executive Director William Watson reiterates to cautious retailers and consumers that, after extensive investigation, Daniella-brand mangos are the only mangos that have been linked to the recent salmonella outbreak out of Mexico. He states, “Providing consumers with safe, quality mangos is our first priority. We are saddened to learn that any consumer had become ill after eating mangos. Since then, NMB and our member companies have focused our efforts on working with the FDA as the agency investigated the source of the food-borne contaminant.” Mr. Watson adds, “NMB will continue to work with the FDA and others in the industry to ensure that all Daniella-brand mangos are no longer on store shelves.”
