MEXICO - Certain companies in the industry stand out for their quality and ability to deliver a one-stop-shop experience for customers. In this case, I speak of Bridges Produce, which has a host of categories available to keep retail partners satisfied as we head into spring and summer promotions.

I spoke to some members in order to best understand what Bridges Produce brings to the table.

Oscar Trujillo, Sales and Grower Coordination, Bridges Produce“This market is constantly shifting, and what looked like a strong crop one week may prove to be limited the next. Summer squash is a good example of this where yellow squash is now dropping off quickly and zucchini is expected to produce for a few more weeks,” Oscar Trujillo, Sales and Grower Coordination, explains to me. “Our beans are starting in better volumes now as well, and our new crop organic hard squash is seeing aggressive pricing on Acorn, Kabocha, and Delicata. We expect this to continue through May.”

Oscar notes that Spaghetti squash is currently limited, with more volume expected soon. Butternut volumes are forecast to be very limited until later this month.

Bridges Produce has reported that its new crop organic hard squash is seeing aggressive pricing on Acorn, Kabocha, and Delicata, which will continue through May

In addition, the company reports that its eggplant new crop will be starting with volumes projected to increase and firm prices to follow. New crop hot peppers will similarly begin soon and start producing in June.

“Our highly anticipated organic melon season will begin soon with Cantaloupe and mini seedless. They will be followed by seedless bins in mid- to late-May. We anticipate a strong start to the season with some overlap with the start of the domestic season in mid to late May,” he adds.

Bridges Produce suggests promotions on cucumbers due to strong volume and good supplies, especially as new crop Euro Cucumbers will start with promotable volume next week and continue through the summer

On top of this, Bridges Produce suggests promotions on cucumbers due to strong volume and good supplies on slicers, English, and mini/Persian cucumbers.

“New crop Euro Cucumbers will start with promotable volume next week and continue through the summer,” says Oscar Trujillo.

Fernando Rodriguez, Sales, has additional points to share on the company's cucumber program.

Fernando Rodriguez, Sales, Bridges Produce“This week, May 9, we’ll start receiving strong volume on Euro Cucumber 12’s. The week after, May 16, production will escalate again with contact deals available 5/16-10/31. We’re also projecting to receive up to 30 pallets of Persian Cucumber 12/1 pound a week, which will create strong opportunities for program deals. Our year-round cucumber program can send products through McAllen, Texas, as well,” he shares.

A host of program opportunities abound, so be sure to connect with Bridges Produce for summer veggie and melon needs.
