Sysco Receives Southern Specialties First Ever True Partner Award

ORLANDO, FL - One of the main focuses for Southern Specialties is quality and sustainability, prompting it to create the “True Partner” award, which it presented for the first time at the Southern Exposure SEPC.

And the recipient - Sysco Foods.

“Our team has been working with Sysco for many years to drive continuous improvement at farm level, so it was a natural choice to recognize them for this important recognition,” Robert Colescott, President and CEO of Southern Specialties, said in a press release. “Their commitment to enforcing the highest quality assurance standards, promoting sustainable practices within our company and exhibiting concern for the wellbeing of our farm workers in Central and South America, made them an excellent recipient.”

Involved in every level of the industry from growing and processing, to imports and exports, Southern Specialties credits customers that ensure sustainability in its farming practices to the company’s own ability to succeed, according to Vice President of Sales and Marketing Geno Valdes.

“We have many amazing customers whose sustainability practices make Southern Specialties a better company,” Valdes said in the release. “We look forward to recognizing the company that best exemplifies the 'True Partner' commitment each year.”

Whether the presentation of the award will continue to take place at Southern Exposure was not specified, however the company's enthusiasm is clear for continuing to present the award annually for years to come.
