Farmers have had mild temperatures during the growing season but are now facing freezing conditions. Low temperatures have arrived in California's Central San Joaquin Valley, but so far citrus farmers have escaped the freezing temperatures.
According to the Fresno Bee, temperatures dropped to the mid-to-upper 20s Wednesday night and into early Thursday. As of yesterday the temperatures had not caused any significant damage to the region's citrus crop.

"We had some long durations of cold temperatures that were just on the cusp of being critical," said Bob Blakely, director of industry relations for the Exeter-based California Citrus Mutual. "But the frost protection measures were very effective and we are not hearing any reports of damage," the publication reports.
