Southern areas have increased their blueberry harvesting with the help of the X and XIV regions. Temperatures have delayed the ripening of the fruits in all areas, but with the South most affected.

Temperatures were higher last week, reassuring ripening and increasing of volumes. This week however, is expected to follow with obstacles in the form of rainfall and dropping temperatures in the first few days.

So far, 31,800 tons have been exported this season up to week 52, which is 6% less than last year. Last week’s shipments reached 5,258 tons compared to the 6,951 tons that were expected. Accounting for the difference is both the weather and the Christmas holidays.

According to a crop report, this week’s shipments are expected to reach comparable levels, which means their estimations were fairly accurate.
