Fresh Produce & Floral Council Holds August Luncheon
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA - Back at the end of July, we announced that Fresh Produce & Floral Council would soon be hosting its August Membership Luncheon on August 9. The event, which was devoted to raising funds for the Southern California cancer and research hospital City of Hope, saw over 200 attendees from various membership companies.
Among those in attendance were Rebecca Calvin, Senior Vice President of Stater Bros. Markets, joined by Marvin Quebec of Quebec Distributing Co.; Patient Speaker John Cloer; and Dr. Charles Brenner from the City of Hope.
“Thank you to our luncheon sponsors, Frieda's, Bako Sweet®, DLJ Produce, Westlake Produce Co., Mixed Nuts, Max Group Corp., PK Packaging, Veg-Fresh Farms, M&M Farms, North Shore Living Herbs + Greens, Perimeter Sales & Merchandising, and Sunshine Bouquet,” the organization said in its latest release.
As the release explained, the local food industry adopted the innovative program as its charity of choice since 1973, raising millions of dollars for the hospital over the last half-century. This year, over $100,000 was raised.
The next FPFC event is the first Annual Top Golf Tournament, which will take place at Top Golf Ontario on Thursday, September 14 from 6–9 pm.
