Kapi Kapi Growers Publishes New Sustainability Report Focusing on Environment, Social, and Governance Priorities; Sofia Acon Comments
MIAMI, FL - Kapi Kapi Growers, (a division of Grupo Acon), a leading grower-shipper of sustainably grown pineapples, bananas and plantains, announces the publishing of their first sustainability report, highlighting clear objectives, goals, and metrics to further enhance their commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) priorities that support the communities and environments where they operate.
The critical objectives identified in Kapi Kapi’s 2025–2030 ESG strategy are based on stakeholder input and diagnostic analysis. Metrics focus on measuring and reducing the company’s impact on water consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, training and learning, and compliance.
Kapi Kapi is excited to share their ESG efforts using Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) metrics. “This approach will allow us to communicate ongoing monitoring and management of our sustainability objectives and metrics,” said Sofia Acon, President of Kapi Kapi Growers, in the recent release. “We believe this will provide a solid foundation to enhance our sustainability efforts and help us better support our communities, workforce, and organization.”
A few of the milestones highlighted under the environmental impact pillar include a renewable energy project and implementation of water conservation technology. The company’s social impact includes, among many things, partnerships with local schools to provide books, company-wide health initiatives, and women empowerment workshops. Governance milestones includes 100% supplier and employee social compliance. The full 80-page report can be found here.
