Boston Mayor Thomas told Bostonians to "use common sense" and "stay off the streets of our city." "Basically, stay home."

Taking his advice, droves of citizens stormed into shops to gather supplies and prepare for the potentially record breaking conditions.

Reading, Massachusetts, resident Elizabeth Frazier stocked up on supplies late Thursday and shoppers were buying up the store. She grabbed the last bottles of water in sight.

"It's a zoo in there," she said. "There's nothing left on the shelves.”

Citizens not only stocked up on food items -motorists in New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts lined up at gas stations.

The icing on the cake, high winds could push flood waters up and over New England coastlines and make docking difficult for ships.

Stay tuned for more updates on the storm.
