O-G Packing and Grower Direct Marketing Host 2nd Annual OG Packing Bocce Bash
STOCKTON, CA - What do trap shooting, bocce ball, produce, poker, and blackjack have in common? O-G Packing and Grower Direct Marketing (GDM).
Last year I was lucky enough to attend the inaugural "O-G Packing Bocce Bash” in Stockton, California, and last week’s second annual event took the day to a whole new level. Marking the end of the 2015 season in California, this day-long celebration of the harvest at the Waterloo Gun and Bocce Club, was a wonderful chance for growers and partners to get to know each other a little better and relax after a long season.
"It was great to see so many families and friends out here having such a good time together. That is what we are all about, five generations of family farming, with four generations being represented out here today. Many of our partners brought the next generations of their families as well. It was a great day and we truly appreciate all that our growers and partners do throughout the season,” Daniel Moznett, Director of Marketing for O-G Packing, Grower Direct & O-G Nut Company, tells me. “Thank you to so many of our partners and growers, we look forward to an exciting Holiday season and wonderful 2016!”
For nearly 30 years, O-G Packing has carried on the tradition set in motion by the late Owner & Grower Vern Gogna. Vern began an annual Golf Tournament to show O-G’s appreciation to its growers at the end of each harvest and last year the company decided to spice it up a bit. This year was no different with a trap shooting and bocce ball tournament, as well as a mini-Casino and raffle with a host of great prizes from an iPad Air, to 49er’s tickets and King’s tickets as well.
O-G welcomed more than 300 guests for lunch, bocce and trap shooting. The evening was followed by a steak and lobster dinner created by featured Chef Paul Ratto with wine from growers in the Lodi Appellation.

O-G Nut is currently working through the Walnut season. The harvest has concluded, and the company is busy sorting, cracking, and shipping Linden, California walnuts to retailers throughout the Country O-G gets set for the busy holiday season.
In addition to walnuts, Grower Direct has now officially begun the Mexican asparagus season in Baja.
“The season is off to a fast start with great quality and good volume projected through the holidays,” Daniel adds. “GDM has become one of the largest shippers of asparagus from Mexico, California and Washington to domestic customers and global destinations.”
O-G Packing is in the midst of making some significant additions to its cherry and walnut facilities as well, so stay tuned to AndNowUKnow as the program develops.
