Side Delights® Plans To Launch Farmers Table® Organic Russet Single Wrapped, Microwaveable Potato
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Fresh Solutions Network is taking to the Organic Produce Summit, with a convenient new addition to its Farmer’s Table Organic line—Side Delights® Farmer’s Table® Organic single wrapped, microwaveable potato.
“We are excited about the launch of the new Side Delights Farmer’s Table Organic Russet single wrapped, microwaveable potato,” said Kathleen Triou, President and CEO, in a press release. This is the first product I know of to address two growing trends—organics and convenience. Just because you shop organic, doesn’t mean you have more time to cook.”
The launch will take place at the Organic Produce Summit trade show, July 12-13, 2017, in Monterey, California. The sold-out expo will feature 120 top producers of organic fresh fruits and vegetables with more than 75 key retail/buying organizations in attendance—all interested in the possibilities that organic fresh foods offer.
Organic products are now available in nearly three out of four conventional grocery stores, and often carry price premiums, helping retailers increase dollar sales. Fresh Solutions Network noted in a press release that fresh fruits and vegetables have been the top selling category of the all organic foods for more than three decades and continue to outsell other food categories. And organic potato growth outpaces the total category driven by expansion of items offered—with a 0.8 percent increase in distribution over last year.
“The organic foods category continues to grow, and potatoes are a sweet spot,” noted Triou. “Our microwaveable organic single potato will appeal to both organic shoppers and millennials, who have become an increasingly important consumer base.”
In fact, according to the company, the organic category is particularly hot with millennials, who purchase natural/organic food most frequently, with an average of 60 percent of their food baskets containing half or more natural/organic products. And while this segment is noted for embracing cooking at home, millennials also embrace convenience—historically spending less than 20 minutes a day on food preparation and clean-up.
And with its Farmer’s Table Organic single wrapped, microwaveable potato, the company is primed to take advantage of buying trends and help its retail partners drive sales.
