Stater Bros. Markets Promotes Paul Stoffel to Vice President of Marketing and Bertha Luna to Regional Vice President of Retail Operations
SAN BERNARDINO, CA - The quality of the shopping experience makes all the difference when it comes to impacting consumer loyalty in a competitive market. Companies know that choosing the right people to oversee a go-to-market strategy could make or break a company. With this idea in mind, Stater Bros. Markets has promoted Bertha Luna to the position of Regional Vice President of Retail Operations and Paul Stoffel to Vice President of Marketing.
Luna will lead the Retail Operations for a regional area served by Stater Bros. Markets. While Luna has been a member of the Stater Bros. ‘Family’ for twenty years, the industry vet brings over thirty-two years of experience in the retail grocery industry to her new role. Luna kicked off her career in 1988 as a Courtesy Clerk at Lucky Stores, then became a member of the Stater Bros. ‘Family’ in 1999 during the acquisition of Albertson’s and Lucky Stores, according to a press release.
In this role, Luna will continue to report to Stater Bros. Markets Executive Vice President Retail Operations Keith Thomas.
In his new role as Vice President of Marketing, Stoffel will oversee the strategic planning, development, and execution of Stater Bros. Market’s center store category management initiatives, procurement, master data management (MDM), and the company’s store brand quality assurance program, the company notes.
Stoffel will continue to report to Stater Bros. Markets Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Dennis McIntyre.
“Bertha is a well-respected and valuable member of our management team,” stated CEO Pete Van Helden. “This promotion recognizes her outstanding leadership skills and dedication to providing our valued customers with the best shopping experience in Southern California.”
Van Helden also shared that Stoffel is a well-respected and valuable member of the Stater Bros. Family.
“Paul consistently demonstrates strategic focus and forward-thinking. I have confidence in his leadership and vision to help move the business forward,” he added.
Luna’s career is a story of great strides as she started with Stater Bros. as a Store Manager at the company’s Fullerton location. She was promoted to Retail Grocery Supervisor in 2000, and in 2006 she was promoted to Retail District Manager. In 2014, Luna transitioned to the position of Director of Diversity, and in 2017 reassumed the role of Retail District Manager. She was promoted to Senior Director Retail Operations, her most recent position in 2018.
Stoffel has over twenty-three years in the retail grocery industry, cutting his teeth at Stater Bros. Markets in 1997 as a Courtesy Clerk at the company’s Arlington location in Riverside and then holding the positions of Meat Wrapper and Clerk before being promoted to the Merchandising Department at the Corporate Office in 2005. With many more promotions and moves under his belt, he was promoted to Senior Director Marketing in 2019—his most recent position.
Congratulations to Bertha Luna and Paul Stoffel on this next step on their successful paths in grocery. Cheers to all you have both accomplished and all that is yet to come!
