California experienced some temperamental weather yesterday that are travelling as a slow-moving low pressure trof through California today, and moving into the Great Basin Wednesday. A small scale thunderstorm passed just north of Bakersfield yesterday evening, as well. Showers are possible throughout the entire valley into Wednesday accompanied by possible scattered thunderstorms and small hail, according to forecasts by Terry Snow and his Weather Advisory Service.
There is also a chance for an isolated thunderstorm today into Wednesday with temps below seasonal norms through Thursday.
Crops susceptible to weather at present include the early cherry and stonefruit deals as well as berries along the Central Coast, a grower tells AndNowUKnow. It’s a bit early for rain to cause damage but the wind may have caused a little scarring down the line.
Growers note that yesterday the wind was coming in from the south, where usual prevailing winds come from the San Francisco Bay in the direction of Arvin, California. The switch in direction usually signals a change in weather.
