WATSONVILLE, CA - The saying goes, “Teamwork makes the dream work.” Proving this sentiment is The California Giant Foundation as it gears up for the 5th annual Tour de Fresh, supporting the Salad Bars to Schools program. Looking fresh, riders will tackle a new route, don a new jersey design, and enjoy a finish line festival. Five riders will be recognized for their devotion to the Tour de Fresh cause; these five Legacy Riders, as they are referred to, trekked almost 1,000 miles and, collectively, have raised $83,700 since Tour de Fresh’s inception.

The Legacy Riders include the following:

  • Mike Deusebio, West Coast Operations at C & S riding for Lipman Produce
  • Adam Linder, Strategic Account Manager at CHEP
  • Jeff Church, Vice President of Sales at Church Brothers
  • Raina Nelson, Vice President of Sales at Renaissance Food Group
  • Ray Connelly, riding for EBX Logistics

Jeff Church, Vice President of Sales, Church Brothers “Tour de Fresh is truly a movement that marries the passions each individual in this industry possesses—agriculture, nutrition, and the future generations,” said Church Brothers' Vice President of Sales, Jeff Church, in a recent press release. “Throwing in a secondary passion of cycling is the cherry on top of this cause as we’re accomplishing major strides when we fundraise for these salad bars. I’m honored to have the opportunity to participate in Tour de Fresh the past five years and look forward to the next five!”

Drew McDonald and Robyn and Ed Purves raised $43,000 for Tour de Fresh, collectively. Sponsors who have shown their steadfast support throughout the years and who look forward to partnering up in the future, too, include the following: Tsamma, Church Brothers Farms, Pajaro Valley Fresh, Sakata Seeds, Renaissance Food Group, AndNowUKnow, CHEP, and Tanimura & Antle. In addition to these sponsors, Americold, California Giant Berry Farms, Crunch Pak, Coosemans Worldwide, DMA Solutions, Duda Farm Fresh Foods, EBX Logistics, Emerson, Fight Like a Girl Foundation, Fruit Growers Supply, iTrade Network, JAZZ Apple, Mann Packing, Mission Produce, Okanagan Specialty Fruits, ProAct, Produce Marketing Association, Taylor Farms, Western Precooling, and Zespri.
