Bobalu Reports Decent Strawberry Start Despite Weather Challenges

OXNARD, CA - Strawberry season is well underway for producers like Bobalu, who are more than happy to provide insights into its operations for its retail partners.

In a recent newsletter, the company reported that its “strawberry season is off to a decent start as we work our way through winter here in California, and in our central Mexico growing regions. Our fruit in Oxnard is looking very nice and the plants are doing a great job of working through some of the strong weather we have already experienced here recently.”

Bobalu also noted that its volume is slowly picking up, leading toward optimism for its spring crop.

“We are also seeing our volume coming in from Mexico increasing as [the] weather cooperates and provides us with good size, color, and flavor in the new year. We look forward to the weeks ahead as our volume continues to stabilize and increase to fulfill the demand,” the company went on to explain.

The newsletter also cited a survey from the California Strawberry Commission regarding the 2024 California strawberry crop. The fall planted acres show an increase of just under percent over 2023 acres; the reported acreage for the state is 31,221 acres. The summer plantings are expected to remain stable, but there will be another survey taken later in the year to account for any new plantings.

ANUK will be here to offer the latest in fresh produce news.
