Ahold has announced the relocation of its Corporate Center from Amsterdam to Zaandam earlier today.

“This move will enable us to maximize synergies and save costs” says Dick Boer, CEO of Ahold. “In Zaandam, we will benefit from co-location with our colleagues in Ahold Europe, while continuing to be located near to Amsterdam with its business and financial community and Schiphol Airport. We thank the City of Amsterdam for either years of great hospitality” says Boer.

Approximately 150 employees working in support functions and the Corporate Executive Board will move to Ahold’s building in Zaandam, which also houses the management teams and support organizations of Ahold Europe, Albert Hejin, Etos, Gall & Gall and Albert.nl.

The relocation is expected to take place in the second quarter of 2013.
