B&W Teams up with Family Reach in Fight Against Cancer
FELLSMERE, FL - In an industry committed to health and wellness, many in fresh produce see this commitment as going beyond the products it provides. Among those is B&W Quality Growers, which recently announced a proud partnership with a national nonprofit alleviating the financial burden of cancer. Named Family Reach, its special sticker will be featured on B&W retail bags of watercress, arugula, and its new "power 4™ blend" throughout 2018.
“We believe we have a duty as a global organization to make a difference where we can,” said Mark DeLeo, CEO of B&W Quality Growers. “Family Reach’s mission is to provide families fighting cancer with basic human needs like nutritious food and home security resonated with us. We’re a family-centric organization that believes in giving back, and striving to not only do well corporately, but do the right thing socially.”
For every bag sold, a donation will be made to Family Reach, which provides comprehensive financial support to families fighting cancer. From paying bills to putting food on the table, financial hardship is a common challenge. When you add to that fight a family member battling cancer, the likelihood of bankruptcy increases dramatically for the family, according to a press release.
“We see many families lose their income because of a cancer diagnosis,” said Carla Tardif, CEO of Family Reach. “They wonder how they will buy groceries or pay the mortgage. This drastically affects a patient’s chances of beating cancer. We are so grateful to B&W for joining us in putting an end to this national crisis.”
Funding from B&W will help ensure families fighting cancer have the resources, helping to keep a roof over their heads, put food on the table, and maintain safe transportation to and from treatment.
Access to these everyday human needs, the company said, is an essential part of cancer care and gives patients a fair shot at overcoming their diagnosis.
