Eric Schriever Makes Major Impact at Maglio Companies McAllen Facility

MCALLEN, TX - As part of its efforts to upgrade and introduce new services at its McAllen, Texas, operation, Maglio Companies has welcomed Eric Schriever to its team. Schriever brings 20 years of sourcing, sales, operations, and brokerage experience with him to the role of Director of Grower Relationships and Sourcing, continuing Maglio’s legacy of offering high-quality produce and innovative solutions since 1902.

Eric Schriever, Director of Grower Relationships and Sourcing, Maglio Companies“The produce business has continued to evolve over the years,” said Schriever. “Mexico is producing more and more top-quality produce, and it makes sense to be at the source. At least two to three growers per week come in for direct face-to-face meetings allowing us to build programs around each of their crop’s production cycles and take advantage of their harvest fluctuations, all while planning ahead for what they will be growing in the future.”

Over the 20 years of his career, Schriever has worked with C&C Produce, Liberty Fruit Co., and Fresh-Link Produce, leading produce teams specializing in everything from demand planning, sales, production scheduling, safety awareness, and global supply.

“It has been a great career so far,” Schriever continued. “I started straight out of college and immediately loved this business. I really enjoy working with customers, growers and transportation providers to put all of the various puzzle pieces together. I can’t think of anything in the world that I would rather be doing than working in the produce business.”

Maglio McAllen focuses on products imported from Mexico and grown in South Texas, which helps the company deliver fresh produce straight from the field and provide a direct link between growers, retailers, foodservice, and consumers. While the focus is on the Tex-Mex region, the McAllen team also sources globally in order to find the best deals and best quality around.

“Customers call us daily to keep their supply chain full,” Schriever explained. “When one area gets hit hard with weather or is limited in availability, they call our team because they know from a global standpoint, we can find them a source for the product they need.”

According to a press release, Maglio McAllen has been offering cold storage solutions, cross docking, and procurement and private label packing for several years. This, along with its facilities in Minneapolis, Boston, and Milwaukee and its strong transportation fleet, helps Maglio McAllen easily and efficiently deliver nationwide.

“Through our facility in McAllen, we can build loads to anywhere within the United States,” concluded Schriever. “We can handle direct-to-store delivery with pallets built for each drop or direct from farm to wholesale—it’s all in our reach.”

Congratulations to Eric Schriever on his new position!
