H-E-B Named One of the Top 10 Companies to Work for in 2014

UNITED STATES – Every December, Glassdoor, a salary comparison and job search site, lists the best places to work for the coming year.

To make this list, Glassdoor looks at company reviews provided by employees between November 13, 2013 and November 2, 2014, where individuals are asked to consider and rate factors like overall satisfaction, CEO leadership, career opportunities, compensation and work-life balance.

“This is the most diverse list by industry we’ve ever seen,” Glassdoor CEO Robert Hohman told Forbes. “I do think this is a sign of the broader recovery. Companies are doing well, employees are satisfied.”

He added that the top 50 includes fewer tech companies and more consulting, health care, consumer goods and retail companies, as well as two auto companies.

This year, H-E-B claimed the highest spot of all of the retailers, at number 7 of the 50 companies listed. Employees of the retailer overwhelmingly approve of their CEO, Charles Butt, giving him a 96% rating.

Forbes notes that H-E-B workers rated their pay and benefits 26.5% above the average, with the company’s 401K plan and employee discount program getting special notice.

Here are the top 10 companies to make the cut:

  1. Google
  2. Bain & Company

  5. Boston Consulting Group
