Hy-Vee Acquires Six Former Shopko Locations to Convert as Dollar Fresh
WEST DES MOINES, IA - We reported last year that the retailer was putting in a lot of attention for its Kansas and Missouri locations. It looks like Hy-Vee can add Iowa to the list because the company just announced that it acquired six former Shopko locations with plans to convert them under its Dollar Fresh banner.
“As we continue to innovate, we’re taking a look at the needs of our rural communities,” said Randy Edeker, CEO, President, and Chairman of the Board. “At our Dollar Fresh stores, our customers will be greeted with helpful smiles that deliver a great customer experience while also encountering a wide selection of quality products at low prices.”
According to its press release, Hy-Vee will re-open the Dollar Fresh stores by late summer. Renovations will begin in the upcoming weeks for buildings located in Hampton, Cresco, Oelwein, Waukon, Dyersville, and Vinton. Customers will find a full selection of grocery items, a bakery section with a full range of fresh-baked items, a dollar section, a Wall of Value, ready-to-eat meal offerings, and other services.
