He brings to this role 40 years of experience as a leader, mentor, product developer, purchaser, operator, merchandiser, strategic planner, and financial manager in the natural products industry at Wild Oats Markets, Haystack Mountain Goat Dairy, Alfalfa’s, and more. He has spent the past seven years at Lucky’s Market, where he has been steeped in the company’s culture as Regional Director of Operations.

Tim Overlie, Director of Local Food Programs, Lucky's Market“Our goal at Lucky’s is to not only sell groceries, but to help people connect with their community. Stocking our stores with locally-grown produce and locally-produced items is the best way to connect with our communities and neighbors, support the local economy and promote sustainability,” Overlie said in a recent press release.

The retailer first came to life in Boulder, Colorado, in 2003, when former chefs Bo and Trish Sharon founded the company—which now has 28 stores throughout 11 states. One of the primary focuses for the company has always been a commitment to local foods to support local farmers and provide customers with the freshest, seasonal, and specialty foods.

To enable Lucky’s to do this, the retailer makes sure to carry hundreds of locally-sources products—to this end, Colorado and Florida stores carry about 1,000 different local products, the press release explained. In fact, the retailer works with micro growers, or those within a 25-mile radius of the store locations, and regional growers/producers.
