Naturipe Farms Sponsors Dish at World Food Championship Final Table Competition; Jim Roberts Comments
SALINAS, CA - Naturipe Farms’ premium Mighty Blues jumbo blueberries are spotlight ready as they will be a shining star at this weekend’s World Food Championship (WFC) Final Table competition. The berries are being featured in competitor Dan Reighn’s “Purple Reighn” Amuse-bouche, which is topped with jumbo pickled blueberries for an explosion of flavor.
“Dan’s use of Mighty Blues is creative, unique, and—most importantly—completely delicious,” said Jim Roberts, Naturipe’s President of Sales. “Innovation in all senses of the word is a key cornerstone of Naturipe’s success. It was a no-brainer to sponsor a meal at this collaborative, food-filled event.”
To create this exciting recipe, Reighn did a quick pickle of the extra-large Might Blues for 45 minutes, breaking down their skin and changing the flavor profile, a release explained. Naturipe applauds Reighn and the other competitors who recognize the ability of produce to be a delicious part of award-winning recipes.
The World Food Championship is the largest competition in Food Sport, the release stated, and is held annually for culinary competitors from around the globe fighting to win the title of ultimate chef in one of ten categories. It is held in Bentonville, Arkansas, the hometown of Walmart and Sam’s Club.
The winner of each of the ten categories earns a spot at the next year’s WFC Final Table, which is a three-phase competition to crown the ultimate chef.
