Ocean Mist Receives $58,683 Rebate Check for Sustainability Efforts

Ocean Mist Farms is seeing a pleasant return on the company's sustainability efforts. Mark Reasons, Facility Manager and member of Ocean Mist Farms’ Board of Directors, recently received a rebate check for $58,683 from PG&E Salinas representatives Charlene Iwata, customer and community relations, and Rob Cruz, senior customer relations manager on behalf of the company. The rebate was given to Ocean Mist for savings generated by sustainability efforts at the company's cooling facility located at Ocean Mist's headquarters.

The rebate check from P.G. & E. was for installing energy saving upgrades the company's Castroville, California Cooling Facility. Over the years, Ocean Mist Farms has undertaken several projects to reduce its electrical costs. This year, the company installed VFD’s (Variable Frequency Drives) on two of its largest refrigeration compressors. These enhancements will reduce electrical consumption, reduce compressor motor repairs and extend the life of Ocean Mist's two largest compressors.

Congrats, Ocean Mist, and thank you for contributing to sustainability in our industry.
