Peruvian Asparagus Importer’s Association Releases 2018/2019 Category Trends, Demographics & Marketing Tips



MIAMI, FL - With each passing year, more and more produce is making itself available to the masses due to more companies expanding to year-round availability and importing the freshest items available to the U.S. Asparagus just happens to be one of these items, and also a category that has been steadily on the rise. That being said, what is the best way to market these crunchy stalks of deliciousness to consumers? The Peruvian Asparagus Importer’s Association (PAIA) has developed its 2018/2019 Category Trends, Demographics & Marketing Tips for retailers to cash in on this hot item.

The report includes statistical information and insight that enables retailers to promote asparagus on a year-round basis,” stated Priscilla Lleras-Bush, PAIA Coordinator.

According to a press release, asparagus is a continued growing trade within the United States, and fresh Peruvian asparagus imports have increased year over year by 13 percent. The U.S. Department of Commerce revealed that more than 567 million pounds of fresh-market asparagus was imported into the United States in the 2018 U.S. Census Bureau and Foreign Trade Statistics report.

“Imported volumes of fresh asparagus continue to climb and thereby providing the U.S. consumer households with a complete vegetable that delivers nutrition, convenience, taste, and quality as the perfect meal solution,” continued Lleras-Bush. “It is our purpose to promote the Category Trends, Demographics & Marketing Tips for Fresh Asparagus—we are most optimistic the report will furnish retailers and industry at large with information that communicates key demographics and proposed strategies to increase promotion and consumption of fresh asparagus.”

The association will focus even greater efforts in 2019/20 on spreading the positive word to industry trade press, supermarkets, and consumers concerning the benefits of fresh asparagus through articles, advertisements, direct-communication, and trade show participation in anticipation of increased consumption and demand for fresh asparagus.
