Publix Expands Into Louisville, Kentucky, With Newest Store; Todd Jones Details

LAKELAND, FL - Publix has its sights set on the state of Kentucky as it works to build out its ever-expanding retail footprint. Announcing its entry into a new market, the grocer has broken ground on its first location in Louisville, Kentucky, marking its eighth state of operation.

More than 90 years later, we’ve kept true to our values, including supporting the communities in which we live and work. We look forward to sharing the Publix difference with Kentuckians.”

The new store will be in the new Terra Crossing Shopping Center, and will stand at 55,701 square feet. In addition to this expansion, the grocer revealed its second Kentucky location, a 55,701-square-foot store, on Ballardsville Road and Brownsboro Road is expected to open in the first quarter of 2024.

Additionally, the retailer announced that it has signed a lease for its third Kentucky location, which is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2024. The 55,701-square-foot store will be the first for Publix in the city of Lexington.

Following the groundbreaking of the new Louisville store, Publix leaders and associates held a Publix Serves event at Dare to Care, a Feeding America member food bank in Louisville, to unload and sort 40,000 lbs of produce donated by the company, a press release explained.
