Safeway Combining Portland and Seattle Divisions...

Safeway has announced its plans to combine the company’s Portland and Seattle divisions into a single Pacific Northwest division. Safeway believes that the location will “allow for significant economies of scale in a highly competitive environment” due to the natural overlap of both locations’ operations.
Steve Frisby, who currently serves as president of the Portland and Seattle divisions, will continue as president of the Pacific Northwest division. It is indicated that both the Portland and Seattle facilities will remain open during the transition.
