Schnuck Markets Continues Support of Local Restaurants

ST. LOUIS, MO - Schnuck Markets is giving the gift of security this Christmas as the retailer has launched a new initiative to support local foodservice operators. Investing roughly $200,000 into its communities, the retailer is purchasing restaurant gift cards which will be given out to its employees.

Todd Schnuck, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Schnuck Markets“As many families do this time of year, we wanted to support others in our ‘food family,’ in this case the many local restaurants negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Chairman and CEO Todd Schnuck. “We thought the best way to do this was by offering all of our teammates gift cards to these restaurants near our stores, extending our mission to nourish people’s lives to those many businesses and their employees who help make up the communities that we jointly serve.”

According to a press release, each Schnucks teammate will receive a $15 gift card to a restaurant located within five miles of their work location.

The launch follows two other efforts made by Schnucks to support local restaurants during the COVID-19 pandemic. In April, we reported that the retailer was partnering with local restaurants by selling grab-and-go meals at its stores. Then in July, Schnucks expanded these partnerships to offer further support to local Black-owned restaurants.

We at ANUK tip our hats to Schnucks for taking these unique approaches to bolstering the foodservice industry.
