Shuman Farms' John Shuman Teases Vidalia Outlook, Healthy Family Project Milestone, and More for SEPC's 2026 Southern Exposure
REIDSVILLE, GA - The Southeast Produce Council (SEPC) Southern Exposure is right around the corner, and according to John Shuman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Shuman Farms, it is the event of the season as spring rapidly approaches.
“Southern Exposure is one of the most anticipated shows of the year, and we’re looking forward to reconnecting with our retail and foodservice partners in sunny Orlando to discuss this year’s Vidalia crop and promotional plans for the upcoming season,” John shared.
Shuman Farms’ marketing efforts this spring and summer will highlight Vidalia onions’ versatility and ease of use at both retail and in the consumer space.
“Vidalia onions are sweet and mild enough to enjoy cooked or raw, lending exceptional flavor and a nutritional boost when added to any dish. At a time when value and convenience are top of mind, we want to demonstrate just how simple it is to add Vidalia onions to everyday meals,” John said, going on to discuss the importance of inspiring consumers. “We can help them see for themselves how far one bag of Vidalia onions can go to provide flavorful, nutritious meals amidst life’s busyness.”

Classes start soon, and this year’s Southern Exposure will also see Shuman Farms’ sister company, Healthy Family Project, expand on its established footprint in the giving community.
“The Healthy Family Project booth will celebrate a major milestone with 25 million meals donated! We will continue our annual photo-op tradition, turning every Polaroid into a meal donated to Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, a local Feeding America partner,” John said.
Bringing the From Field to Families: Nourishing Our Nation story to life through a timeline showcasing the organization’s growth since its founding in southeast Georgia in 2002, this is a stop attendees won’t want to miss.
