SpartanNash Unveils Acquisition of Shop-N-Save Food Centers; Tony Sarsam and William DeVries Discuss

GRAND RAPIDS, MI - SpartanNash’s network just got a little bit bigger. Recently, the retailer revealed that it has acquired Shop-N-Save Food Centers (SNS), a three-store grocery chain in Northwestern Michigan, and upon the closing of the sale, all locations have been converted to SpartanNash’s popular Family Fare brand.

Our grocery stores are an important contributor to our business strategy, allowing us to provide a full portfolio of solutions for independent and chain customers that go beyond food distribution. We leverage the insights from our retail stores to continuously innovate our products and operations across our global network.”

The Family Fare banner was established in 1962, and with the acquisition of these three stores in Benzonia, Fremont, and Ludington, Michigan, SpartanNash will now operate 86 Family Fare stores throughout the Midwest, according to a press release.

SpartanNash revealed it has acquired Stop-N-Save Food Centers and will be converting all locations to the popular Family Fare brand

Through these locations, shoppers will have access to fresh produce, a deli, bakery, floral department, and meat and seafood counter as well as SpartanNash’s loyalty program, yes Rewards. The grocer will also be continuing employment for all Shop-N-Save associates.

Prior to being acquired by SpartanNash, SNS had been a food distributor of the retailer for almost 25 years.
