David and Susan Gill have had an incredible impact on the community and are encouraging others to do the same. David Gill, Partner at Rio Farms, tells AndNowUknow, "Getting involved in the community, supporting and donating to local organizations, and encouraging others to do the same, is part of our philosophy. Our employees take part in that commitment, we encourage them to volunteer and offer their own support, and we allow them the time off to do it." The 2012 laureates were chosen by a committee that included previous inductees of the Hall of Fame, local business leaders, and members of Junior Achievement’s Board of Directors, according to a press release. Business excellence, vision, courageous and innovative thought and action, as well as inspiring leadership, and philanthropy, are just a few of the criteria taken into consideration for inductees.

Taran Barca-Hall, District Manager for Junior Achievement of Northern California, states, “David and Susan Gill, as members of the 2012 Class of Hall of Fame laureates, represent the best of the Monterey Bay business community. Their success and leadership within the Ag industry is matched equally by their commitment to the young people of South Monterey County and to their community as a whole. Junior Achievement, our board, and the 2012 Hall of Fame Selection Committee congratulate the Gills, Rio Farms and Growers Express, for a well-deserved and hard-earned honor.”
