California-based chain 99 Cents Only has announced plans to expand its brand in Waco, TX, where it will occupy 16,000 square feet in the Parkdale shopping center at Bosque Boulevard and Valley Mills Drive.

Although most of the 99 Cents Only retail stores remain concentrated in Southern California where it was first founded, expansion into Texas and Nevada has increased the number of locations to more than 300.

City of Waco staffer Cathy Groppe, who supervises the inspection services department, and Bobby Horner in the planning department have confirmed 99 Cents Only has submitted construction documents for review, but the city of Waco has not yet issued a building permit, according to Waco Tribune-Herald. The local office of the Associated General Contractors of America in its newsletter has mentioned a solicitation for bids on work related to 99 Cents Only.

The Katy, TX 99 Cents Only store will open on Thursday. To celebrate the store’s opening, each of the first nine people in line will be allowed to buy a 40-inch, flat-screen television for 99 cents.
