Castle Rock Vineyards' Laura Berryessa Discusses Bringing Years' Long Focus On Quality to Organic Table Grapes
BAKERSFIELD, CA - Too often, it feels as though we have to choose between scalability and quality. It makes sense; the further resources stretch, the more they strain. But from the time I first became acquainted with Castle Rock Vineyards, it was made very clear to me that this was not the brand’s way.
One of the first things Laura Berryessa, Sales Manager, shared with me years ago was that Castle Rock’s goal is not to be the biggest, but to be the best. Now, she assures me that the same philosophy has led the supplier’s entry into organic.
“Organics is a new category for us,” Laura shares. “This is our second year in the segment, so it makes sense to showcase our product, ideas, and to connect at the Organic Produce Summit (OPS).”
Celebrating “10 Years of Organic Excellence” as the event returns to the Monterey Conference Center July 13–16, in Monterey, California, OPS is well known as the premier organic event in the western U.S.
“There is no better way to introduce new products, company growth plans for the future than to have a face-to-face conversation,” Laura assured me as we reflected on the strong attendance the convention has provided in recent years.
As Castle Rock ventures further into the category and we discuss what buyers should know about the company’s offerings and approach, Laura is unshakeable.
“We listen to our partners, and there is a need for us to do organics. To offer a full program of grapes,” Laura explained. “This reassures the customer that they are getting the Castle Rock quality.”
Castle Rock Vineyards will be offering its clamshell programs, ready to be a steady supplier just in time to enter a new grape season.
