Giumarra Companies Discusses Expansion of Organic and Avocado Programs Before Organic Produce Summit 2025; Gary Caloroso and Kellee Harris Comment
LOS ANGELES, CA - Giumarra Companies is always one to watch at the Organic Produce Summit. Exciting updates will be in store for attendees as the company continues to expand its organic avocado and blueberry programs. I spoke with Gary Caloroso and Kellee Harris to learn more.
“We are expanding our year-round availability of organic avocados and blueberries to meet growing consumer demand across both retail and foodservice channels,” Gary, Regional Business Development Director, informed me. “As a leading supplier of organic avocados from California and Mexico, we take pride in our consistent, high-quality supply. For blueberries, we proudly work with trusted growers in the U.S., Canada, Chile, Mexico, and Peru to ensure a steady and high-quality offering.”
In working with these trusted grower partners, Giumarra Companies has steadily increased its supply of organic avocados and blueberries from both the United States and international growing regions.
“On the packaging front, we introduced a plastic-free bag option for our organic avocados last year, which was met with strong support from retailers,” Gary added. “The bag’s net and label are composed of cellulosic materials with FSC certification. Consumers have written to tell us that they appreciate the bag, specifically the cellulose netting. We continue to explore more sustainable packaging solutions for our products.”
Outside of strategically expanding its product portfolio, Giumarra Companies offers retailers a source they can trust.
“As a family-owned produce company with over 100 years of experience serving our customers and growers, we remain strongly committed to delivering our industry expertise, personalized service, and innovative solutions to help our customers grow their business. We are continuing to expand our year-round programs by growing both conventional and organic avocado and blueberry volume,” Gary noted.
Kellee Harris, Vice President of Retail Merchandising Services, elaborated on the importance of buy-side partners to the company.
“We aim to continuously work with our retailers to support them in their merchandising goals, including how to best promote organic produce to their unique shopper base using a variety of tools,” she explained.
