Hy-Vee Debuts First Entirely Reimagined Grocery Store in Grimes, Iowa; Randy Edeker Comments



GRIMES, IA - Hy-Vee’s steady upward climb has hit a new high as the retailer’s anticipated format opened its doors yesterday morning. The freshly built store is the retailer’s first entirely reimagined location in its eight-state territory, standing at approximately 93,000 square feet and offering a new dining experience with a large Food Hall. In total, Hy-Vee invested over $26 million in the community to build, furnish, and stock the grocery store.

The store also offers amenities that the company has become known for including several full-service options within different departments, multiple non-food retailers, a greater number of selections, a large fresh produce area, and an expanded floral department.

All-digital shelf labels display product information and pricing, and more than 100 TVs feature Hy-Vee products, promotions, and services. Digital kiosks are also available for customers to order fresh prepared foods. The store will feature new mobile payment technology with Hy-Vee Scan & Go, as well as self-checkout options available for a faster, more convenient shopping experience, a press release notes. Other amenities include Hy-Vee Aisles online grocery delivery and pick-up service.

The store will carry about 100,000 items, including more than 1,500 fresh produce items with more than 100 organic options. Overall, the new Grimes Hy-Vee also has created 400 local jobs, including 120 full-time positions.
