Lidl Unveils Latest CEO Transition as Michal Lagunionek Announces Departure



UNITED STATES - Executive changes are afoot! Lidl has recently announced that longstanding executive Michal Lagunionek is departing as President and Chief Executive Officer of Lidl U.S., a role he has held since June 2021. Stepping into the vital role is Joel Rampoldt.

Joel Rampoldt, Incoming Chief Executive Officer, Lidl U.S.Effective September, Rampoldt will succeed Lagunionek as CEO of Lidl U.S. He joins from AlixPartners, where he is a partner and Managing Director. Before his tenure with AlixPartners began in 2018, Rampoldt was a principal at consultancy KPMG from 2015 to 2018.

Before that, Rampoldt served as a partner at Oliver Wyman.

I have a track record in achieving positive financial outcomes in comp sales, gross margin, cost of goods sold, distribution costs, and shrink.”

Michal Lagunionek, President and Chief Executive Officer, Lidl U.S.According to Forbes, Lagunionek took the reins in June 2021, becoming the fourth manager since the retailer first made inroads into North America in 2013. He succeeded Johannes Fieber in the position, who had previously led Lidl's Stateside business since 2018, helping to ramp up expansion and redefine its strategy.
