Talk is circulating that Mike Duke, President and Chief Executive Officer of Wal-Mart Stores may be stepping down. He has held the position since 2009. According to Bloomberg News, the retailer has identified two possible successors to Duke. Doug McMillon, has been identified as a possible successor and currently runs the international operations. Bill Simon, has also be noted as a possibility. He currently is in charge of the U.S. stores, the publication reports.

The CEO is not slated to step down immediately, but Bloomberg notes that a person close to the situation says Wal-Mart might name his successor in the coming months. With Wal-Mart’s June shareholder meeting, that might come sooner that later.
Duke has had quite a "tumultuous" time as head of Wal-Mart. If he leaves this year, Duke will have the shortest tenure of any of Wal-Mart’s chief executives. As sales have been slumping and customers have been complaining that store shelves aren't always fully stocked, there is much to be considered.
Wal-Mart could not immediately be reached for a comment.
