Nicolas Jammet and Jonathan Neman, Co-Founders and Co-CEOs of sweetgreen, to Present at OPS 2020

MONTEREY, CA - The annual Organic Produce Summit (OPS) brings to mind two things: strong organic attendance from all avenues of the industry and enticingly informative presentations. With the first of three keynotes now unveiled, it looks like 2020 will uphold that tradition in spades.

Summit organizers have confirmed that Nicolas Jammet and Jonathan Neman, Co-Founders and Co-CEOs of nationally acclaimed fast casual restaurant chain sweetgreen, will be one of three presentations to take place at the Monterey Conference Center July 8 and 9.

Susan Canales, President, Organic Produce Summit“We’re thrilled to have two dynamic and engaging leaders who have created the most recognizable fast casual salad restaurant brand in the United States. OPS attendees will enjoy a thought provoking and inspiring presentation which highlights the growth and opportunities related to organic and sustainable fresh produce,” said Susan Canales, President of OPS. “Both Nicolas and Jonathan are very excited about the chance to speak at OPS on the importance of their commitment to providing fresh foods that are truly impacting consumer’s lifestyles and eating habits.”

Described as a “TED Talk-style presentation to headline an informative and insightful series of educational sessions,” according to a press release, the entrepreneurs no doubt have much to share with attendees.

sweetgreen was founded in August of 2007 by Jammet and Neman, as well as Nathaniel Ru, three months after the group graduated from Georgetown University's undergraduate business school. The Los Angeles-based chain has over 90 locations across the United States and employs more than 3,500.

OPS assured that the two additional keynote presentations would be unveiled in the coming weeks, complementing a series of six educational sessions. Among them will be:

  • Obstacles and Opportunities for Organic in Foodservice
  • Is Regenerative the “New” Organic?
  • Organic Data Dive and Analysis
  • Labor and Its Impact Throughout the Organic Supply Chain
  • How Do Independent Retailers Handle Organic?

These sessions are said to feature engaging and informative topics and leaders from the organic fresh produce industry, and more will be announced as details are finalized for the show.

Already in its fifth year, this OPS features a sold-out exhibition showcasing 152 of North America’s organic fresh produce growers, shippers, and processors. All will exhibit their products to over 250 retailers and buyers.

In addition to the show floor, keynotes, and educational sessions, field tours at several of the nation’s leading organic producers are also available for qualified retailers and wholesalers in attendance.

Retailer and general registration for OPS 2020 is available here. As more details come to light leading up to the show this summer, AndNowUKnow will report the latest.
